The Outsiders is based on three brothers: Darry, Sodapop, Ponyboy. Darry is a father like figure, Soda is very outgoing and Pony is quiet and to himself. They're all involved in the "Greasers" gang. The Greasers are always competing with "The Socials", the classier/wealthier gang. This violence led to loyalty within each gang.
